How to Pack Your Next Caravan Trip.

It’s good to have a checklist for caravan living, whether you just bought one or are renting one. We can assure you that the last thing you want on a caravanning vacation is to get on the road and cause problems with your battery or tire.

Before you go on the road, check out this checklist for the caravan

 

Before you drive away, do yourself a favor and inspect the caravan.

Here’s the checklist for caravans:

  • Battery in good condition and charging
  • Good condition tyres, pumped to the correct pressure
  • Brakes activate and release
  • Jockey Wheel – Raised and secured, or stowed away
  • Water tank – full
  • Gas bottles- Turned off and secured, full
  • Towbar wiring and plug/socket are both functional and easy to clean
  • Fire alarm Check and replace the battery, if necessary
  • Do you own a fire extinguisher/fire blanket?
  • Fridge door locks securely and works
  • All drawers, cupboards must be closed properly and remain closed
  • Windows – closed
  • Toilet- Working
  • All interior electrics and gas are off
  • Lights- Have spare tubes and bulbs!

 

What should you pack for your next Caravan trip?

 

A caravan holiday is different from a camping holiday in that you can bring items you might not have brought if you were just using a tent. You might need to bring extra things for the bathroom or kitchen. If this is your first caravan holiday, how should you pack the caravan?

This is a list compiled from research and our own experience.

Start with the kitchen

 

  • Dishwashing detergent, plug to sink, scrubs and tea towels
  • Cooking tools (tongs and peelers, chopping boards, spatulas, etc.
  • Pans and pots
  • Tableware, cups, spoons , forks , knives
  • Coffeemaker
  • Kettle (if you like tea)
  • Food!
Bathroom

 

  • Soap
  • Towels (including towels for hands)
  • Toiletries
  • Tissues
  • Toilet paper

 

Other

 

  • Wipes, paper towels, and general cleaning spray
  • Garbage bags
  • Camp chairs to be used outside
  • All sporting equipment
  • Umbrella, sun protection products, hats
  • Chargers for devices
  • Lights to exterior of caravan
  • Extension cords
  • Board Games, cards, and reading material
  • If powered in that manner, lantern and batteries

 

Essential items

 

  • Personal medication
  • Band-aids in many sizes and shapes
  • Roll bandages
  • Sterile gauze
  • Cotton swabs
  • Adhesive tape
  • Use insect repellents and quick itch creams
  • Calamine lotion
  • Aloe
  • Antihistamine cream
  • Antiseptic wipes
  • Antiseptic cream
  • Pack with heat/cold
  • Eye drops
  • Aspirin/Panadol/Neurofen
  • Tweezers
  • Scissors
  • Safety pins
  • Anti-acids (Rennies/Quick-Eze)
